The Voodoo is a religion.

Like all ancient religions, also has numerous ceremonial vuduismo related to magic and is much criticized by the rest of the world.
In Haiti, as in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico and how, Candomble in Brazil, is taken very seriously not only by illiterate peasants, but also by many members of intelligent and educated, like the theologians for Christianity.

It has its roots in Africa, Benin, Congo and Nigeria.
The Vodou as we know it today, is the result of pressures from different cultures and ethnic groups who have been uprooted from Africa and imported to Hispaniola during the period of slavery.
A common faith, which could make them feel part of a culture and a community. the Vuduisti, do not find anything strange in practicing Catholicism and Voodoo together, managing to be very devoted to all two. The Voodoo priests, asking for help to the spirits (angels, mysteries or ancestors), as senior members of the family, even offering food and wine
.

The Voodoo is a religion.
And 'the dominant religion and culture of primary about 7 million people in Haiti
Like all ancient religions also vuduismo has numerous ceremonial related to magic and is much criticized by the rest of the world.
In Haiti, as in Dominican Rep, is taken very seriously not only by illiterate peasants, but also by many members of intelligent and educated, like the theologians for Christianity.
It has its roots in Africa, Benin, Congo and Nigeria.
The Voodoo exists throughout the island of Hispaniola, Cuba, Puerto Rico and how, Candomble in Brazil.
The Vodou as we know it today, is the result of pressures from different cultures and ethnic groups who have been uprooted from Africa and imported to Hispaniola during the period of slavery.
A common faith, which could make them feel part of a culture and a community.
Vuduisti I believe, as the African tradition, that there is one God, who is the creator of all, called "Bondje", from the French "Bon Dieu" or "Good God."
But it is to the ancestors, or spirits, mysteries or angels, who asks for help, treating them with honor and respect, as older members of a family.
The focus and the key of Voodoo, is healing people from diseases.
Healing with herbs, healing of faith (with the help of rum and spirits) and now also with Western medicine!
The Voodoo priests, are both men (houngan) than women (Mambo).
Can perform religious ceremonies to call or pacify the spirits, holding initiations for new priests (tesses), telling the future and interpret dreams, casting spells, create protections, creating potions for various purposes (from love spells spells death ).
The priests may receive fees, taxes or similar offers paid to the rabbis, mullahs or priests.
As no evidence exists that the effectiveness of these spells, there may be doubts about the taking of these superstitions on the people: many dictators, have taken advantage of this', to strengthen their power, posing as powerful sorcerers.

Catholics

Under the settlers, for the slaves, it was forbidden to practice Voodoo.
Dances were allowed occasional weekends, but these dances were actually services Voodoo!
In this way he could survive.
After the liberation of 1804, all the whites were expelled from Haiti and many were killed, including Catholic priests, so the Vatican broke with Haiti which has not had relations for more than 50 years.
During this period, there has been a strange fusion of the spirit of religion and African Catholicism, virtually all lwa (spirits), they are associated with Catholic saints (Dumballah, the loa snake, is St. Patrick, Erzulie, mother earth, is the Virgin Mary, etc ..).
The most important consequence of this is that the Vuduisti, do not find anything strange in practicing Catholicism and voodoo together, managing to be very devoted to both.
From 1860 to 1940, the Catholic Church has led campaigns against Voodoo without any success.
In 1941-1942 there was the holy war against Voodoo, were burned, shrines, killed houngans and mambo and tried to banish from society.
But they lost, because the Voodoo, one hand went under the ground, but on the other has grown in popularity due to their oppression.
In the early 1950s, the Catholic hierarchy has stopped this war, getting rid of the warriors and priests making peace with Voodoo.
Not being able to defeat them, voodoo drums and melodies were incorporated in religious Catholic.

Protestants

Until 1970, Haiti was almost 100% Catholic.
In 1970 came the evangelical Protestantism.
After that, in the US Reagan came to power, the evangelization hath multiplied.
The evangelical Protestants, are bitter enemies of Voodoo who denounce as devil worship.
Many Protestants claim that the misery of Haiti is a punishment from God for the sins of her serviteurs Voodoo.

Evangelical Protestant groups have 7 of 11 radio stations in Haiti and have made significant gains in conversions.

Il Vudù è una religione.

E’ la religione dominante e la cultura primaria dei circa 7 milioni di persone di Haiti

Come tutte le religioni antiche anche il vuduismo ha numerosi cerimoniali legati alla magia ed è molto criticato dal resto del mondo.

Ad Haiti, come in Rep.Dominicana, è presa molto sul serio non solo dai contadini analfabeti, ma anche da molti membri intelligenti e colti, al pari dei teologi per il cristianesimo.

Ha le sue radici in Africa, Benin,Congo e Nigeria.

Il Vudù esiste in tutta l’Isola di Hispaniola, a Cuba, a Porto Rico e come, Candomblé, in Brasile .

Il Vudù come lo conosciamo oggi, è il risultato delle pressioni di diverse culture ed etnie che sono state sradicate dall'Africa e importate ad Hispaniola, durante il periodo dello schiavismo .

Una fede comune, che poteva farli sentire parte di una cultura e di una comunità. 

I Vuduisti credono, come dalla tradizione   Africana,  che       c'è un solo Dio, che è il creatore di  tutto, denominato           "Bondje", dal  francese "Bon Dieu"  o "Buon Dio".            
Ma è agli antenati, o spiriti, misteri o angeli, che chiede aiuto, trattandoli con onore e rispetto, come anziani membri di una famiglia .

L'aspetto centrale e la chiave del Vudù, è guarire le persone dalle malattie.

Guarigioni con le erbe, guarigioni di fede (con l'aiuto di rum e spiriti) ed oggi anche con la medicina occidentale!

I sacerdoti Vudù, sono sia uomini (houngan) che donne (Mambo).

Possono eseguire cerimonie religiose per chiamare o pacificare gli spiriti, tenere iniziazioni per i nuovi sacerdoti (tesses), raccontare il futuro e interpretare i sogni, lanciare incantesimi, creare protezioni, creare pozioni per vari scopi (da incantesimi d'amore alle magie di morte).

I sacerdoti possono ricevere commissioni, simili alle tasse o alle offerte pagate ai rabbini, mullah o sacerdoti.
Per quanto no esistano prove dell'efficacia di tali magie, non vi possono essere dubbi sulla presa di queste superstizioni sul popolo: numerosi dittatori, hanno approfittato di cio', per rinsaldare il loro potere, spacciandosi per potenti stregoni.

I cattolici

Sotto ai coloni, per gli schiavi, era proibito praticare il Vudù.

Erano permessi balli occasionali nei fine settimana, ma queste danze erano in realtà servizi Vudù!

In questo modo ha potuto sopravvivere.

Dopo la liberazione del 1804, tutti i bianchi sono stati cacciati da Haiti e molti sono stati uccisi, compresi preti cattolici, così il Vaticano ha rotto con Haiti con cui non ha più avuto rapporti per più di 50 anni.

Durante questo periodo,è avvenuta una fusione strana di spirito della religione e del cattolicesimo africano, praticamente tutti i loa (spiriti), si sono associati con i santi cattolici (Dumballah, il loa serpente, è San Patrizio, Erzulie, la madre terra, è la Vergine Maria, ecc..).

La conseguenza più importante di questo, è che i Vuduisti, non trovano nulla di strano nel praticare Cattolicesimo e vudù insieme, riuscendo ad essere molto devoti a tutt’e due.

Dal 1860 al 1940 la Chiesa cattolica ha condotto campagne contro il Vudù senza alcun successo.

Nel 1941-1942 c’è stata la guerra santa contro il Vudù, sono stati bruciati, santuari, uccisi houngans e mambo e cercarono di bandirlo dalla società.

Ma hanno perso, perché il Vudù, da una parte è andato sotto terra, ma dall’altra è cresciuto in popolarità proprio a causa dell'oppressione.

Nei primi anni 1950, la gerarchia cattolica ha fermato questa guerra, sbarazzandosi dei guerrieri sacerdoti e facendo la pace con il Vudù.

Non potendo sconfiggerli, i tamburi vudù e le melodie sono state incorporate nelle funzioni religiose cattoliche.

I protestanti

Fino al 1970, Haiti è stata quasi 100% cattolico.

Nel 1970 è arrivato il protestantesimo evangelico .

Dopo che, in USA è salito al potere Reagan, l’evangelizzazione s’è moltiplicata.

I Protestanti evangelici, sono acerrimi nemici del Vudù che denunciano, come adorazione del diavolo.

Molti protestanti, sostengono che la miseria di Haiti è un castigo di Dio per i peccati dei suoi serviteurs Voodoo.

Gruppi evangelici protestanti possiedono 7 su 11 stazioni radio di Haiti e hanno fatto significativi aumenti di conversioni.
