PROTECTION OF LOBSTERS

From March 1 to June 30 is the lobster breeding period also in Las Galeras

The population grows, tourists increase and the lobsters decrease!

Unfortunately, every year the demand for lobsters increases, but if they continue to fish them even during the breeding season, we will come to extinction!

Each lobster may have some thousands of eggs, but if we give him no chance to reproduce, will no longer exist!

To continue to enjoy these delicious shellfish
we ask all tourists, not to ask for lobsters from March 1 to June 30 and owners of restaurants to give explanations about and follow the applicable law.
If these three months, there will be no requests, it will be easier for fishermen to respect the law.
We also ask everyone to report restaurants that do not adhere to the law, to address CODOPESCA

PROTECTION OF LOBSTER

FROM 1 MARCH TO 30 JUNE
IT IS PROHIBITED TO FISH LOBSTERS

We urge the owners of supermarkets, hotels, restaurants and fishermen, to refrain from marketing the lobsters in this period and also tourists and travelers do not request it.

                             Lobsters are delicious!

In a Caribbean island foods consumed by most tourists come from the sea.

Almost all the beaches of Las Galeras, there are same ladies who cook, under canopies of coconut leaves

freshly caught fish,

shrimp (sometimes even fresh water, fished in the rivers that flow on the beaches),

octopus,

squid (which here are giants, even one meter and a half!),

lambì (which is the clam of a shell, yummy)

and delicious lobster

But is it right to respect the laws
                    that protect marine wildlife!

Do not kill the lobsters in the breeding period, contributing to the propagation of the species.

Another advice for tourists and travelers, is to avoid eating LORO FISH

Because it is a fish that contributes to cleaning algae corals, preventing suffocate.
Killing them contribute to the death of our corals

Furthermore emit a large percentage of sand that forms our beaches.
