HAITI

n.151 cm.164x36
semi-gloss on canvas

Haitianarts picture Haiti
I really like this picture!

The artist, a native of Haiti, he wanted to represent his country with this woman, a po'androgina, where we can see the chains on his head which led to many years of bad government, and at the bottom, the roots are still bleeding.

You will notice that it lacks the final "i" of the word "Haiti", which tells you that it is not over, they still have the hope of a better life.

For the people of Haiti, painting is the breath of life, almost everyone knows paint colors and express the feelings of justice, love and solidarity, leading to the heart.

MAMAJUANA

Haitianarts rum mamajuana natural viagraAlso this year, now is the time to prepare the new bottles of Mama Juana! The Mama Juana is a mixture of alcohol and original crafts typical of the Dominican Republic. The flavor is reminiscent of the healing spirits prepared by the monks in the monasteries Italian. It is traditionally made up of over 20 different roots, here in Las Galeras, are collected in Cabo Cabron, the hill overlooking Playa Rincon. Ingredients: Dark rum, red wine and honey, put to soak in the bottle. In classical composition color is reddish and taste alcoholic, sweet and with a significant hint of herbs.

Spices: Petiveria alliacea, star anise, Cissus verticillata, Basil, canelilla, Bojuco, Marabeli, Caro (PrincessVine), Cloves, Agave, Timacle (West Indian Milkberry) ...
The roots and pieces of twigs, should be bottled and left in hot water, at least for one night, then be washed very well and macerated in rum.
The bottles are then emptied and refilled with wine, rum, honey, roots, branches and spices. You have to let it rest, before drinking, at least for a week.
According to local tradition, the product is considered to be a medicinal product a bit 'for all the ills and also an aphrodisiac, a sort of natural Viagra.
The same roots can be reused dozens of times, adding the rum, wine and honey.
The preparation is quite simple, but hard-working and every Dominican who can produce it has some little secrets that not confess anything, as with the old recipes of grandmothers!

MOTHER

n.61 cm.76x101
semi-gloss on canvas

Even in this image, the artist refers to its distant roots, bringing a touch of Africa: it is no coincidence that the painting is called "mother."

The miscegenation that has been the population of the island of Hispaniola, Santo Domingo and Haiti, is becoming ever from reality and everyday life, making it even richer.

The scene described is also a reality that often happens in Las Galeras to see.
The simplicity and spontaneity of this framework is disarming!
