LAS GALERAS AND AROUND

Getting to Dominican Rep fills my heart forever!

The Samana Peninsula 'is the region north-east of the country, known for its wild nature. It 'a protected area where nature still reigns supreme.

Starting from the capital Santo Domingo, Samana is reached in about 2 hours and 30 minutes on the highway, renting a car or using public transport.

The bus line Carriben Tour, for example, provide 4 departures a day from the capital. These vehicles are comfortable and confident that reach most of the areas of the island, including our goal, Samana. The only drawback is the air conditioning, often too high!

Alternatively you can use the minibus, "guagua" for long distances, leaving every half hour from Calle Barahona. It is pretty uncomfortable and make many stops, but they are definitely the most typical means of transport!
From Samana to Las Galeras, the minibus takes another 45 minutes. along the coastal road all contribute to the impression of having traveled to the end of the world.

Las Galeras, is a small, quiet village without post office and no traffic lights, given the lack of traffic, would be unnecessary. Fortunately, for a town of this size, however, there are two clinics, nightclubs, restaurants and hotels to suit all tastes.
The country is known because it is surrounded by beaches very different from one another, but they all really heavenly:

Playa Grande is a beach in the country. The Calle Principal, ( the big road ) road from which we come, through Las Galeras and ends right on this beach.

On this beach you can buy fresh fish directly from the hands of fishermen, who can also cook it for you on the spot.
It's the perfect place to take a nap, that make for a wonderful walk, with eyes that dwell on the small island in front of the beach.

The Playta is the other town beach can be reached on foot in just ten minutes.
And 'much smaller than Playa Grande, but really lovely!
And 'perfect for relaxing, swimming languidly soaking in pools of calm crystal clear water. The beach is great fun and suitable for children.

For the less lazy, it will be a pleasure to swim out to the reef, snorkelling.
Part of the beach is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas of leaves, and there is also a good restaurant.

Playa Colorado, and 'wild and wonderful. It's a completely deserted beach, with no settlements or umbrellas, so it is perfect for those who want to isolate themselves but not for those who like to perform different activities on the beach.
It 'reached by boat, by motorbike, by car or even quads.

Playa Rincon, is known as one of the beaches and the most 'beautiful in the Caribbean.
They are about 5 km of pristine beach.
The road ends at the center of beach.Turning right at the bottom where you close the bay,
the sea is more secure, and always calm and perfect for swimming.
It is equipped with beds and three restaurants.
Behind the restaurants, and even a dune beach and sea. From dream!

Turning instead to the left end of the beach, is the frio Cano, a stream of cool fresh water, crystal clear, where you can swim and even take a hike through the mangroves,
Farther upstream for a mile on a small rowing boat,
accompanied by local boys and in absolute silence.

Again, under roofs of leaves or lying comfortably on the beach, you can enjoy lobster, fish, freshly caught shrimp.

Continuing, the imposing Cabo Cabron, a long strip of wilderness overlooking the sea.

Playa Madama: there are no words to describe it!
A very small deserted cove, a cave, coconut trees, sand and sea of incredible color!
It is hard to believe that here they shot scenes in many films set in the Caribbean.
It 'reached by boat, on horseback or on foot.

Playa Fronton: another beach really unique.

There by boat, you will be amazed. Turning around a cliff, you will find yourself suddenly faced with unexpected spectacle ...

Do not forget your mask and a pair of shoes to walk on rocks and corals!

It is also possible walk with a little' spirit of adventure.

LAS GALERAS E DINTORNI

Arrivare in Rep.dominicana mi riempie sempre il cuore !

La penisola di Samana' è la regione a nord-est del paese, conosciuta soprattutto per la sua natura selvaggia. E' una zona protetta dove ancora la natura fa da padrona.

Partendo dalla capitale Santo Domingo, si raggiunge Samanà in circa 2 ore e 30 minuti di autostrada, noleggiando un'auto o servendosi dei mezzi pubblici. 

Gli autobus della linea Carriben Tour, ad esempio, prevedono 4 partenze al giorno dalla capitale. Sono mezzi comodi e sicuri, che raggiungono buona parte delle zone dell'isola, inclusa la nostra meta, Samanà. L'unico inconveniente è l'aria condizionata, spesso troppo alta!

In alternativa si possono utilizzare i Minibus, "guagua" per i lunghi percorsi, con partenze ogni mezz'ora da Calle Barahona. Sono abbastanza scomodi e fanno molte fermate, ma sono sicuramente i mezzi di trasporto più tipici!
Da Samanà a Las Galeras, il minibus impiega altri 45 minuti circa. percorrendo la strada costiera: tutto contribuisce all'impressione di aver viaggiato fino la fine del mondo. 

Las Galeras e' un piccolo,tranquillo paese, privo di ufficio postale e di semafori che, vista la mancanza di traffico, sarebbero inutili. Fortunatamente per un paese di queste dimensioni, però, sono presenti ben due Cliniche, varie discoteche, ristoranti e hotel per tutti i gusti. 
Il paese è conosciuto perché è circondato da spiagge molto diverse l'una dall'altra, ma tutte davvero paradisiache:

Playa Grande e' la spiaggia del paese. La Calle Principal, strada da cui arriviamo, attraversa Las Galeras e finisce proprio su questa spiaggia. 
Calle Principal è l'unica strada asfaltata del paese, oltre ad una seconda strada che la incrocia, e che porta ai due maggiori Hotel dell'area. 

In questa spiaggia potrete comprare il pesce fresco direttamente dalle mani dei pescatori, che possono anche cucinarlo per voi sul posto. 

É il luogo perfetto sia per schiacciare un pisolino, che per fare una splendida passeggiata, con gli occhi che si soffermano sulla piccola isoletta di fronte alla spiaggia. 

La Playta è l'altra spiaggia del paese, raggiungibile a piedi in soli dieci minuti.

E' molto più piccola di Playa Grande,ma davvero incantevole!

E' perfetta per rilassarsi, nuotando languidamente a mollo nelle pozze di calma acqua cristallina. La spiaggia è molto divertente e adatta anche per i bambini. 

Per i meno pigri,sarà invece un piacere nuotare fino alla barriera corallina, facendo snorkeling.

Una parte della spiaggia è attrezzata con lettini e ombrelloni di foglie, ed è presente anche un buon ristorante. 

Playa Colorado, e' selvaggia e meravigliosa. È una spiaggia completamente deserta, senza insediamenti o ombrelloni, quindi è perfetta per chi vuole isolarsi ma non per chi ama svolgere diverse attività sulla spiaggia. 

E' raggiungibile in barca, in moto, in macchina o anche con i quad.

                                        

Playa Rincon è conosciuta e come una delle spiagge piu' belle dei Caraibi. 

Sono circa 5 km di spiaggia incontaminata. 

La strada finisce arrivando al centro della spiaggia.Girando a destra, in fondo dove si chiude la baia, 

il mare è più protetto, quindi sempre calmo e perfetto per nuotare.

E' attrezzata con lettini e tre ristoranti tipici.

Dietro ai ristoranti, una duna e ancora spiaggia e mare aperto. Da sogno!

Girando invece a sinistra,alla fine della spiaggia, si trova il Cano frio, un fiume di fresca acqua dolce, limpidissimo, dove si può nuotare e anche fare una bella escursione tra le mangrovie,

risalendolo controcorrente per un paio di chilometri su una piccola barca a remi,

accompagnati da ragazzi locali e nel più assoluto silenzio.

Anche qui, sotto tetti di foglie o comodamente sdraiati sulla spiaggia, si possono gustare aragoste, pesci, gamberi appena pescati.

Proseguendo, appare l'imponente Cabo Cabron, una lunga lingua di terra selvaggia a picco sul mare.

                                     

Playa Madama: non ci sono parole per descriverla !
Una piccolissima baia deserta,una grotta, piante di cocco, sabbia e mare di un colore incredibile!
Non è difficile credere che proprio qui abbiano girato scene di tanti film ambientati ai Caraibi.
E' raggiungibile in barca,a cavallo o a piedi.

Playa Fronton: un'altra spiaggia davvero unica nel suo genere. 

Raggiungendola in barca, rimarrete a bocca aperta. Girando attorno ad un’alta scogliera, vi troverete improvvisamente di fronte ad uno spettacolo inaspettato… 

Non dimenticatevi la maschera e un paio di scarpette per poter camminare su rocce e coralli! 

E' raggiungibile anche a piedi con un po’ di spirito d'avventura.
